Two students conducting simple classroom experiments question why they need to learn how to use scientific tools. A real rocket scientist answers that question and gives them a glimpse of the exciting science work outside the classroom lab. Your students will meet professionals from Chef to engineer as they see how water is filtered for reuse in a home lab and in a city waste-water treatment plant. Tools for safety, measurement, observation and information are presented with memorable experiments and career examples. Through the use of real life experience and anecdote, students will understand that although the scientific tools and the scientific process don't seem to relate to various jobs in real life, almost every working person (and even stay at home moms) uses science concepts and scientific tools daily. Students will learn how each tool can help them learn in school, and how the same tools will help them in life. Tools for safety, measurement, observation and information are presented with memorable experiments and experts like Aurora, a rocket scientist. Relatable jobs and people will help make the concept of science – from classroom to life—more concrete. BONUS FEATURE: Aurora fabricates solar cells to uses them to power a motor.
